A confident answer can still be wrong. In high-ticket ecommerce, a bad assumption about suppliers, margins, product specifications, or competition can send you into the wrong niche or create an expensive customer-service problem.

Where I refuse to trust it alone

- Counting brands or suppliers in a market
- Validating supplier policies, margins, or territory restrictions
- Publishing technical product specifications
- Making legal, tax, medical, or financial decisions
Use a three-label system
Every important research output should be labeled confirmed, inferred, or unknown. Confirmed means there is a primary source. Inferred means the conclusion is reasonable but still needs testing. Unknown means we do not have enough evidence.
This small habit changes the conversation. Your team stops debating how persuasive the answer sounds and starts asking what evidence supports it.
Build verification into the workflow
Link every material claim to a source. Have a human review anything customer-facing. Call suppliers. Check manufacturer documentation. Test the URL. Run the numbers from raw data. AI should shorten the distance between a question and a test—not eliminate the test.
