There is a common catch-22 in dropshipping: you want suppliers before building the store, but suppliers want to see the store before approving you. My solution is to build a credible niche-focused foundation using clearly labeled demonstration content, then begin outreach.
The objective is not to pretend you already carry brands you do not. It is to demonstrate how you will position the category, educate customers, and operate as a retailer.
What the supplier should see
- A clear niche and customer promise
- Professional navigation and policy pages
- Thoughtful category structure
- Useful educational content
- A real company identity and contact process
Use demonstration products honestly
If you need sample products to establish the structure, avoid implying current authorization. Do not run ads or take orders for products you cannot sell. Replace demonstration content as approvals arrive.
Design for the approval conversation
A supplier may only spend a few minutes on the site. Make the basics easy to find: who you serve, where you operate, how you support customers, and how the brand would be presented. Remove unfinished pages, placeholder copy, broken links, and unrelated products.
